About the Council

The Natchez Trace Council serves the 22 counties of Northeast Mississippi. In April 2022 the Pushmataha Area Council (1925) and Yocona Area Council (1926) merged to better serve the youth and families in Northeast Mississippi. The council headquarters office is located in Tupelo, Mississippi and operates four camping properties across the council.

Scouting happens at the local level - the "unit".  Units serve different ages of youth.

Our council is supported by four "districts", each with volunteer and professional support

  • Apilachi District, serving Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties
  • Chicksa District, serving Benton, Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall and Yalobusha counties
  • Jacinto District, serving Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties
  • Pushmataha District, serving Choctaw, Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Webster and Winston counties
